La Joya Mexican Restaurant

Hacienda La Joya is one of those restaurants you would refer to as a hole-in-the-wall.  It’s one of those restaurants that you may hesitate to try only because it’s not one of the bigger named restaurants in the area, it’s located in a strip mall and its design is non descript but you will be deliciously surprised. I have been eating at this location since it was named Sonny’s Country Kitchen and if you’re a local of many years that name will sound familiar. Hacienda La Joya didn’t keep the name but it certainly kept the quality, the deliciousness and the Latino warmth of its previous owners.

Their menu offers a selection of American and Mexican cuisine to satisfy each diners palate and is reasonably priced. Their food is authentic, traditional, homemade tasty and uses the most flavorful ingredients that you would expect. The homemade chips are served warm along with the homemade slightly spicy salsa. Don’t forget Taco Tuesday where tacos of assorted fillings are offered for $1/each.  What you won’t find at Hacienda La Joya is your taco made with that perfectly shaped, tasteless and compressed corn meal shell. Hacienda tacos are made with the traditionally sized corn tortilla, deep fried and stuffed with your favorite meats and topped with fresh ingredients to your liking. They offer all the best Mexican favorite foods like enchiladas, carne asada, burritos, chorizo and eggs, and the traditional pork dishes along with the drinks you’ll find in your travels when in Mexico, one of my favorites is Jamaica pronounced (Ha-mi-ka).

So the next time you have that taste for Mexican food try Hacienda La Joya this family owed business and meet Carlos and his wife. You won’t be disappointed with the many flavors that will delight  and excite your taste buds. Inquire of their catering services for those special events and a Cinco de Mayo party. You can find them in North Mission at 25542 Jeronimo Rd., Mission Viejo, corner of Jeromino and Los Alisos, next to the Montessori school.
